Manawatu Co-operative Building Society
A general meeting of shareholders of the Manawatu Co-operative Building Society was held last night when Mr. J. J. O’Shea presided. Before proceeding with the appropriations Mr. O’Shea stated that notwithstanding the difficult times the society has been able to keep up the frec-of-intercst, loans to shareholders. The sum of £ISOO was to be disposed of that night and to date £237,000 had been appropriated to shareholders. Results: No. 1 Group: (Ballot), Mr. L. M. Justice (Palmerston North) £500; Mr. G. S. Leeder (Palmerston North) £IOO. No. 2 Group: (Ballot), Estate G. H. Neal (Palmerston North) £SOO. No. 3 Group: (Ballot), Mr. J. J. Rarnao (Palmerston North) £700; No. 4 Group: (Ballot), Miss M. L. Marsh (Wellington) £SOO. No. 5 Group: (Ballot), Mr. L. A. Humphrey (Levin) £SOO. No. 6 Group: (Ballot), Mrs. E. D. Hall (Otanc) £7OO. No. 7 Group: (Tender), £SOO at £2l per £IOO. Messrs. G. Sowerby and J. E. Bartlett acted as scrutineers.
