. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Mrs. W. Anderson and family, of Otaki, are holidaying with Mrs. Anderson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Easton, Norbiton Road. Miss Verna Sutton, Robinson Sti'eet, has returned homo from a holiday visit to Wellington. Mr. C. G. Rouse, of the staff of the been transferred to the R.N.Z.A.F. station at Waipapakauri, North Auckland. Moutoa Drainage Board Those present at the first meeting of the newly-constituted Moutoa Drainage Board were Messrs. W. H. Smith, R. E. Downes, E. H. Robinson, S. W. Barber, W .L. Carter and the clerk (Mr. G. V. Fraser). Mr. W. H. Smith was unanimously elected chairman. The first act of the board was to place ou record the services rendered by Mr. F. S. Easton as chairman during tho past three years, and it was also decided to write to Dr. A. H. E. Wall expressing appreciation of his services. Thu board discussed at length ' the communication received from the Government relative to the proposed Bill to deal with flood protection on a national basis. A letter was also read from the Kairanga County Council on the same matter, suggesting a conference of the various local bodies concerned to discuss the matter, and it was decided that tho chairman and clerk represent the board at this meeting, in Palmerston North. The retiring chairman (Mr. F. S. Easto), who did not seek re-election, was present prior to tho commencement of business and extended a welcome to the new members. Taney Dress Ball The Masonic Hall presented a festive scene ou the occasion of the annual plain and fancy dress ball for children organised by the members of All Saints 7 Ladies’ Guild. The prizes were awarded as follow: Best dressed girl under seven years, Dorothy Small (bride), best dressed boy under seven years, Brian Ogdon (Cupid); best dressed girl over seven years, Jeanette Horn blow (Manawatu Herald); best dressed boy over seven, Mostyn Robinson (soldier); most original, Roy Merriman (Ruination); most economical, Williams (N.Z. Apples).
