Magistrate’s Court

YESTERDAY’S SITTING AT PAHIATUA A sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was held at Pahiatua yesterday, Mr. H. P. Lawry being on the bench. •Fines totalling £9 with costs 10s on each of two charges were imposed on William Kernick, properietor of the Post Office Hotel, for breaches of the Licensing act. The charges were in respect of keeping premises open after hours and supplying liquor on April 27 . last. Pleas of guilty were entered by Mr. S. K. Siddells. David Norman Peck, of Eketahuna, on a charge of being intoxicated whilst in charge of a motor vehicle while on the Pahiatua-Eketahuna main highway on May 7, was lined £lO with costs 10s 6d. Arthur Peck, who was also charged .in connection with this same set of circumstances, with being intoxicated whilst in charge of a motor vehicle, was also fined £lO with costs 10s fid. Copeland Frank Albert Brown was convicted and fined £2 with costs 12s for allowing stock to wander at Konini. Ernest Earl Brown (Mr. Carruthers), who pleaded guilty, was fined £1 with costs 12s for allowing stock to wander at Konini. Xavier Brian Murphy, for operating a heavy motor-vehicle without the requisite heavy traffic license, was fined £1 10s with costs 10s.
