Parents’ Day at Papatawa School

Parents’ day was observed at Papatawa School last week, when, with the assistance of the headmaster (Mr. Smalley) and the assistant (Miss O’Reilly), members of the school garden circle presented a most interesting programme for the entertainment of parents aud visitors. A novel section consisted of fivemi uute talks on flowers by Bernard and James Bradley, June Herrick and Joan Davies, each speaker selecting as a subject a single flower. Swimming certificates were presented to eight qualified pupils by Airs. Davies, wife of the chairman of the school committeee. All present inspected the school gardens, which have lately been re-planned and improved by now paths, and welldeserved praise was freely expressed. A shrub donated for competition was won by H. Davies. “The children resolved themselves into an enthusiastic party of hosts and hostesses for the entertainment of the visitors at an enjoyable afternoon tea. Thanks were conveyed to the teachers and scholars by Mrs. 8. Sandbrook for the pleasant afternoon provided. CAN YOU AFFORD A COLD? Could you afford time off from work? That’s what a cold may mean.
