Appreciation of Parcels
LETTER FROM OFFICER OVERSEAS The following is a copy of a letter received by Airs. Hume, Fox Street, from Captain L. C. Griffiths, of the Bth Infantry Brigade, overseas, expressing the appreciation of officers and men alWo who received gift parcels forwarded recently by members of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union:—“Dear Mrs. Hume, —Our Easter parcels arrived in perfect condition and were appreciated to the hilt by both officers and men alike. You may not appreciate it, but we are all just like kids when mail and parcels arrive from New Zealand. Aly company received a number of parcels assembled by the ladies of Woodville, and my particular parcel contained your kind note. The boys were overjoyed and we gave you three hearty cheers to mark our thanks. The numerous things that have been done for us by the ladies of New Zealand is a great inspiration. We officers have a wonderful lot of men under us, and while we are alive and can get at the Hun, then they should not touch our folk at home. Kindest regards to you personally and all the happiest wishes from our boys to the ladies of Woodville. ’ ’
