Tiakitahuna

(From Our Own Correspondent.) An enjoyable evening was spent at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. 8. Richardson to celebrate the coming of age of Miss Patricia Croad. Mrs. S. Richardson, sister of the guest of honour, received in a frock of sheel pink georgette and lace and was assisted by her mother, Mrs. Croad, who wore black velvet. Miss Croad chose an exquisite gown of pink and taffeta finished with rucking and black velvet bows. Games and dancing were interspersed with items rendered by Miss 8. Croad (tapdancing), Miss E. Thomas (humorous recitations), Miss M. Rowland (vocal solos) and Mr. L. Smith (musical monologues). Mr. Smith supplied music for the evening and also carried out the duties of M.C. At supper Mr. M. Richardson, on proposing the toast of Miss Croad, congratulated her on obtaining her majority, which was followed by musical honours and the cutting of the birthday cake. Mr. N. Croad proposed the toast of Mrs. Croad which was also followed by musical honours. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. M. Richardson, Mrs. Croad, Mr. and Mrs. Rogerson, Mrs. Burns (Pahiatua), Mr. and Mrs. T. Jones, Mrs. Teskey (Auckland), Mr. and Mrs. N. Croad, Mrs. V. Lover; Misses J. Croad, A. Walker, B. Parker, S. Croad, L. and E. Richardson, Falconer, Tinkler (Masterton), B. Robertson. (Ohakune), M. Rowland; Messrs. S. Greenfield, T. Falconer, B. and L. Rowland, V. Rankin, P. Croad. Members of the Tiakitahuna Women’s Institute celebrated their ninth birthday recently at an afternoon tea party at C. M. Ross Co. Mrs. K. Guthrie, of Palmerston North, has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. D. Rowland. Misses A. and K. Walker are spending a holiday with friends in Masterton. Private 8. Rowland is home on leave from Trentham. Private B. Rowland is in camp at Wanganui. Mrs. I. McLeod is a visitor to Palmerston North and later to Dannevirke.
