Bulls

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Red Cross Society The first annual meeting of the Bulls Sub-centre N.Z. Red Cross Society was held on April 29, Mr. R. Mackay presiding. In moviug the adoption of the report and balance sheet Mr. Mackay stated that the Society’s efforts during the year had been most successful and the assistance received encouraging. He drew attention to the Society's sound financial position and to the satisfacory credit balance of £354 to be carried forward to the new year, and stated that this was very gratifying for such a small district when it was taken into consideration that well over £3001) had been raised for other Patriotic purposes and the Plunket Room with the past two years. During the year S 5 members were enrolled. More members are still sought. Three large cases of knitted garments and bandages had been forwarded to headquarters, also a parcel of comforts to Vaiouru Military Camp. The ladies have been untiring with their sewing, knitting and preparatou of bandages and the branch was deeply indebted to them. Mr. Mackay concluded by stating that the opportunity was now with us for forming a strong organisation , which would be useful when the dark ! clouds of war roll away. A vote of < thanks was accorded Mr. F. Cutts for auditing the balance sheet. The election of officers resulted: —President, Mr. B. Mackay; vice-president, Mrs. Ralfc; delegate to Wanganui centre, Mr. R. Mackay; delegate to Patriotic centre, Mrs. Ralfe; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Lyn Holmes; lion, auditor, Mr. F. Cutts; executive committee, Mcsdames Escott, Gower, Jones Mackay and Misses Broughton, Levettand Walker, Messrs. R. G. Dalrymple and F. A. Holland. Successful Dance The Town Hall was well filled on Wednesday evening, when the Bulls Basketball Club held a dance. Excellent music and a good supper added to the enjoyment of patrons, many of whom came from Marton and other centres.
