Farewell Party

Recently members oil the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild and P.W.M.U. met at Mrs. G. Hogg’s home to farewell *Mrs. H. Smith, who is leaving this town for Matainata. The large attendance testified to the popularity of the guest of honour. The first item of the programme was a stamp collecting competition, which was won by Mrs. H. Smith with Mrs. P. Bisset second. This was followed by a musical parcel, the winner being Mrs. P. Jackson. At this stage, Mrs. Carrad presented Mrs. Smith with a handsome navy handbag from the Ladies’ Guild and the P.W.M.U., voicing appreciation of Mrs. Smith’s service for the societies and the universal regret at her departure. Mrs. Day, president of the P.W.M.U., also paid tribute. Mrs. Smith was the recipient of a shoulder spray when she rose to respond. A delicious ton was then served by Mrs. Hogg and Mrs. Carrad. The remainder of the afternoon was passed with amusing games.
