Kimbolton Gun Club
Under ideal weather conditions a clay bird shoot was held during the week-end on Mr. A. S. D ’Atli’s property before a large attendance of spectators and shooters. Visitors were present from Ohingaiti, Feilding, Woodville and Dannovirke. The first match was a five bird cyeopener, G. Morgan, C. Machie, J .Little, W. J. Beard and A. Lyne shooting the possible and dividing the sweepstake. The second match, a twelve bird sweepstake, was won by
C. Machie with 11 breaks. Also competing were Gordon Beard, A. Myers, H. Haycock, G. W. Beard, E. Sargent, A. Lyne, all with 10 birds; E. Sutherland, K. Maker, all secured 9 birds; G. D’Ath, J. Little, S birds; A. S. D’Ath, J. Beard, W. J. Beard, G. Morgan, 7 birds; G. Smith, A. Maurice, 6 birds; E. Jenkins, G. Mcßeth, 5 birds; AV. Edney, G. Fitzpatrick, 4 birds; R. G. Beard, 3 birds. Run in conjunction with this match was a first and second Iropby for novice shooters, presented by Mr. Geo. Smith and Mr. Alf Douglas and won by Gordon Beard and A. Lyne .respectively. Also competed for in this event was tlie second round for the Haycock and D’Ath cups for club members. Gordon Beard, A. Myers and G. W. Beard tied for the former, Gordon Beard winning in the shoot off. He was also successful in scoring most points in the D’Atli cup contest. In a ten bird doublerise sweepstake Gordon Beard, 11. Haycock and E. Jenkins each broke seven birds. The day concluded with a six bird match for trophies presented by Mr. Jinx Beard and Mr. Bell. R. Maher, E. Sargent, A. Myers, A. Lyne and C* Mackic all broke the possible. Sargent and Myers in the shoot off going to the twentieth bird before the former dropped one, leaving A. Myers the winner of Mr. Beard’s trophy. Also competing were. H. Haycock, G. Morgan, G. AV. Beard, E. Sutherland, A. S. D’Ath, AY. J. Beard, 5 birds; E. Jenkins, J. Beard, E. Wilson, G. D’Ath, J. Little, W. Edney, 4 birds; Simpson, 3 birds; A. Maurice, 2 birds; Gordon Beard, R. J. Beard, 1 bird. The thanks of the club are due to-those gentlemen who donated the various trophies for this shoot.
