Plymouth’s Fifth Raid in Nine Days

HEAVY LOSS OF LIFE FEARED Received Wednesday, 11.25 p.m. LONDON, April 30. The Air Ministry states; “The enemy last night severely raided Plymouth for the fifth time in nine days, A number of fires were started. It is feared the casualties were heavj, and a large number were killed. “Bombs were dropped in jother partß of south-west and southern England, East Anglia and south Wales. There were a number of casualties and some were killed in the latter area. “Eight enemy bombers were destroyed. ’ * The Bomber Command of the R.A.F. made a heavy attack last night on Mannheim, the great industrial centre of South Germany. No details of tho raid are yet available.
