Malta’s Worst Raid

LONDON, April 29. The Italian Stofani News Agency says that the Luftwaffe last night attacked Malta. 'lhe raid was the heaviest Malta has yet suffered. Firea were caused in the arsenal and also at the port of Valetta, the agency claims, and several, warships, including a cruiser, wore damaged. The raiders encountered violent anti-aircraft fire, and also “clusters of lights projected by powerful reflectors, which were intended to hide the objectives." An R.A.F. Middle East communique says that our fighters shot down a Messerschmitt 109 over Malta yesterday.
