Corset Shortage Affects Mental Attitude of Women
LONDON, March 26. A woman doctor, the Daily Mirror says, expresses the view that women , who cannot get corsets because of the shortage caused by the restriction of production should wrap themselves in roller-towelling as a substitute. A famous male obstetrician, commenting on the suggestion, says: “A roller binder may bo an adequate support, but a woman should be able to feci happy about her figure and line It affects her mental attitude and phy;ical health. “If a woman feols that she looks unattractive, then she is unattractive. That, I think, may affect the birth rata now and after the war, and it may even bring unhappiness and instability to our homes now.” Doctors and women welfare workers in North England say that girls who will soon go into factories to releasi men for the army must have corsets to make their effort 100 per cent, efficient.
