Hockey in City

Eleven-a side tournaments, senior and junior, were conducted by the Manawatu Hockey Association on Saturday afternoon preparatory to the opening of the season next Saturday. Five teams competed in the senior tournament and three in the junior. Each team played all the others in its section, the games being of 15 minutes 9 duration each. United won the senior section, with six points, tho other competing teams being; High School (5 points), Woodville (4 points), Broadway (3 points), Phoenix (2 points). In the junior tournament High School proved successful, with, four points. Then came Broadway with 3 points and Phoenix with 2. The tournament manager was Mr. J. D. McDonald and the umpires, Messrs. L. H. Rendle, W. Sutton, V. Turner, D. Hoare, L. Martin and B. Palenski.
