Gallup Poll Favours Convoying British Ships

Received Wednesday, 11.50 p.m. NEW YORK, April 23. A Gallup survey shows that 41 per cent, of the voters favour the United States Navy * escorting convoys to Britain. Nine per cent, are undecided and 50 per cent, are against. However, 71 per cent, are in favour if a British defeat seemed certain without escorts. Dr. Gallup says: “A good half of those favouring convoying present two main arguments: First, we cannot let Germany win; secondly, we cannot afford to quit now.”
