British Tobacconists Short of Supplies

Tobacconists throughout Britain are considering closing their shops for part of the week as the result of a shortage of supplies. London retailers are limited to one-third of their peacetime requirements whereas the demand, particularly for cigarettes lias increased. The situation is worrying manufacturers. Stocks at the outbreak of war were estimated to be sufficient for two and a-half years and only a year’s supply is left.
