Low Temperatures. Proof that winter is rapidly approaching was obvious yesterday, when without doubt the coldest clay of the .season was experienced. A cold wind and intermittent showers of rain made the day most unpleasant. Papatawa Euchre. There was a good attendance of euchre enthusiasts nt the tournament held to raise funds for the A ictoria Domain Board at Papatawa on Saturday night. Winners were as follow: Ladies, Mrs. Davis 1, Mrs. McGregor 2; men, Mr. Ale Lean 1, Air. Hancock 2. Sports Club Dance. Although the Kutncrpa-Hopclands Sports . Club is not- holding its annual sports on Easter Saturday, tho usual dance will be held in the hall in the evening. Good music, floor and supper is assured, and it is anticipated that the customary largo crowd will attend this popular function.- Profits are for patriotic purposes. An advertisement appeals on this page. Harvest Festival. The annual harvest festival and thank-offering was held in St. David’s Presbyterian Church on Sunday, when an exceptionally fine display of produce, fruit and vegetables, said to be the best on display for some years, was exhibited. Included were 2S bags and boxes suitable for presentation to the orphanages, and these were despatched yesterday. The thanksgiving envelopes showed an increase of £5 over last year ’s offerings. Rev. W. H. Nicholas officiated.
