Store Sheep and Lambs in Demand
ADDINGTON SALE REALISATIONS Per Prea* Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 19. There was a much better tone in the store sheep and lamb market at Addington to-day, due to the improved feel prospects resulting from last Greek’s copious rains. Store ewes were dearer by up to 2s a head and medium rape lambs by Is 6d. The demand for ail classes of ewes was keen, coarsewoolled two-tooths making from,26s to 32s Gd. Best lambs ranged from 376 6d to 20s. Fat lambs sold at up to full schedule rates, exporters operating steadily. A small entry of fat wethers resulted in this class impr<Ki*ig"i«r value by Is Gd to 2s a head. Good and medium ewes were a shade firmer, but export sorts were unchanged. Company buyers bought a fair proportion. Best wethers sold at from 27s to 325, tops to 36% medium 23s to 265, best ewes 19* to 235, tops to 275, export ewes 11s to 15e. The market was over supplied with fat cattle, and except for a small proportion of light young prime cattle, the sale was from par to a shade weaker. Prime lights were a shade dearer. Best steers made from £l4 10s to £l6 10s, tops to £l9, medium steers £l2 to £ll, find light down to £S. Good heifers sold at from £9 15s to £ll 30s, tops to £l2. Cows were in poor demand, except 1 for best. Good beef made from 35s to 37s Gd and tops to 40s per JOOIbs. Fat pigs advanced in price all round, porkers by 3s a head on baconers by 2s. Porkers made from 44s Cd to £3 2s 6d, average price per lb. 7d to Bd, while baconers sold at from £3 5s 6d to £4 16s Gd, average per Jb. 7d to 74d.
