Much Damage in Shelling of Genoa
ACCURATE BRITISH GUNNERY LONDON, Feb. 18. More details have been revealed in London to-day of the naval bombardment of Genoa, and they show that tho damage done was very considerable. The electrical services were interrupted, and railways and trams were at a standstill after the shelling. A gaso meter burnt all day. A troopship in the old dry dock was hit. Large fires were caused at the Ansaldo electrical and boiler works, the main power station, dry docks, and inner harbour. There were also hits on oil tanks, goods yards, and merchant ships. Various buildings in the industrial district were hit, and great damage was done to wharves and warehouses.
These results have shown that the ■hooting of our naval gunners was extremely accurate. The moral effect of the bombardment has been consider-
able, and the material damage even greater than at first believed.
