Patriotic Gesture. At the annual meeting of the Papatawa Garden Circle on Tuesday, it was decided that accumulated funds, totalling about £5, are to be investod in a j National Savings Account. This is a iTne patriotic gesture, and could well be emulated by other local bodies. •Taupo Trout.

The best lish caught at Taupo so far this year was landed rcceutly by Mr. R G. Smith, of Woodville. It was a 12-Jlb. brown trout, and was caught near the mouth of the Waitahanui River. Tho fishing this year is reported to bo tho best for the last 10 years.
