Secret Radio

NAZIS DENOUNCED ; REGIME OF ‘‘MIRACLES'

For the first time in six months the German freedom radio station has been icard by the Columbia Broadcasting System’s short-wave receiver. The Ger-man-speaking announcer—who merely Save .his location as “Germany speaking”—recalled that the time had arrived when Reich Marshal Goering's fouryear plan should have ended.

“Goering assured us that he surely would secure enough food and inexpensive food even for people who are not well off,” said the German broadcaster. “Well, every hausfrau in Germany in the meantime found out all about that.

“When he said that German gasolene would be ready within 18 months and that we would no longer need gasolene from foreign countries, everybody thought that we were a miracle nation and that Germany again had be-, come the first nation in the world.

"But there was something wrong with the food and the gasolene. And. the promised miracles developed into failures. Therefore, miracle substitutes had to be c eated. No wonder that Austria and Czecho-Slovakia were overrun. No wonder also that, after the discovery of our living space, Poland no longer had any right to exist. No wonder that * war broke out because all expected miracles had not arrived. “And the Nazis cannot exist without miracles. Now the war has become a miracle. No week passes in which we are not asked to stare with awe at all the wonderful things given to us by the Nazis. We have stared so much that most of us got tired and now want to be relieved of that staring. “Because Poland is not as rich as fat Goering thought, now Rumania has been singled out. And because this will not be sufficient, we. shall have to march even further, to Russia or into Persia.

“All our energy and all our imagination for inventions c->uld give us only a part of what we needed for a war. This is why we are now looting Europe.

“We, of course, are not allowed to open our mouths, and we are not even asked. Everything is decided by the Nazis. But sometimes we think the Nazis are overdoing it. Even the most peaceful and most calm of us might not stand it much longer.'”
