Manawatu Boating Club Regatta
• FOXTON BEACH, Jau. 2. There was a large crowd of interested spectators on the river front on Thursday on the occasion of the Manawatu Boating Club’s regatta. Events were started from the new jetty, which was lined with people all day. The course, too, allowed onlookers a good view of the races and a loud-speaker announced results. Races resulted as follows: Canoe race, boys under 16 (Club Cup): J. Rosvall 1, P. Andrews 2, Nobberley and Calder dead heat 3; five entries. Outboard handicap, 4 laps: Gee Jay, 50 h.p. (J. Stephenson) 1, Rainbow, 32 h.p. (W. Malpas) 2, Sea Devil, 16 h.p. (K. Vickery) 3. Sailing race: Colt (R. McCulloch) 1, Jennie (M. W. Bell) 2, Mabel (D. Dilks) 3. Power boats (Saunders Chullenge Cup), 2 laps: Mauu Wai (H. Jensen) 1, Sir Echo (L. Andrews) 2, Miss Jeanette (R. O. Hornblow) 3; six starters. Outboard championship (Andrews Challenge Cup), 4 miles, 4 laps: Gee Jay (J. Stephenson) 1, Rainbow (W. Malpas) 2, Sea Devil (K. Vickery) 3; time, Cmin. 42see.; seven starters. Boys’ canoe race handicap: lan Yates 1, P. Doyle 2, J. Stewart 3. Power boats (handicap), 2 laps: Scram (D. Ward) 1, Sir Echo (L. H. Andrews) 2, Miss Jeanette (R. Hornblow) 3; five starters.
