To-day’s Recipe

SPONGE TAUT Take one apple, slices of sponge cake, two teaspoonfuls of sugar, one egg, one gill milk, one teasponful castor sugar. Bake an apple till very soft; take out all the fruit and place in a small dish; put some slices of sponge on top. Make a custard with milk, egg yolk and a little sugar, and pour over the sponges. Whisk up the egg white with one teaspoonful of castor sugar and put on top of the pudding. Place in a cool oven and bake till set and slightly brown. Servo hot or cold.
