Sparrow (Palmerston North) managed a 6 up head in his game with R. Stewart (Takaro) as we)l as a 4 and five'3’s. Two s’s and a 4 as well as a couple of 3’s helped materially in raising a big tally for P. Skoglund when playing L. Lovelock (Palmerston North), who was allowed to score on six heads only of the 21. However, he finished up with a 4. Monks (Hokowhitu) was another to score on six heads only when engaged with J. Davidson (Terrace End), the game ending 32—8. Paton (Palmerston North) took the first seven heads in his' game with Henderson (Palmerston North) to lead 9—o. The latter took the eighth for 2 and then Paton rattled on a 3, a 1 and a 4 to lead 37 —2. With the sedre 21—5'at the 17th, Henderson won the last three heads to finish the gaiife 21—9. Williamson (Feilding) had a neck-and-ncck tussle, the lead being taken alternately by the pairs, especially at the end of the game, which went to Wort, 22—20. P. Skoglund (Northern) gave Maskery (Hokowhitu) something of a hiding in the early stages of the seventh round, the cards reading 20—1 at the tenth head. The game finished 30—35. T.
