Fair and Wanner Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 1. An extensive anti-cyclone still covers New Zealand, while a depression in the south Tasman Sea is making only slow progress eastward. Winds: Mainly light to moderate and variable westerlies predominating over the North Island and northerlies over the South Island and northerlies gradually freshening. Seas (New Zealand waters): Slight but later rising somewhat about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Eastern Tasman Sea: Fresh portherly winds in the south-western portion; otherwise light and variable; seas slight or moderate. Weather: Continuing fair to fine over most of the country but unsettled conditions developing on the south-western portion of tho South Island. Warmer temperatures. YESTERDAY’S TEMPERATURES Maximum 75 degrees F. Minimum 57 degrees F.
