Blondie Wants a Maid So Dagwood Needs a Raise

“BLONDIE HAS SERVANT TROUBLE” (Mayfair: Coming on Friday.) The Bumsteads are carrying on as ever—in the laughable and lovably friendly way which has endeared them in the hearts of millions of movie fans. “Blondie lias Servant Trouble” opens at the Kosy Theatre on. Friday. Dagwood (Arthur Lake), Blondie (Penny Singleton), Baby Dumpling (Larry Simms), and Daisy have come through with another top-notch group of performances as the Chic Young comic strip characters come to life. Like its predecessors, “Blondie Has Servant Trouble” deals with the very things everyone of us encounters during our daily lives. This time, Blondie wants a maid and tells Dagwood he’d better get a raise in order to pay for this additional convenience. Then begins the typical Bumatead* adventures of hilarious proportions. Every member of the family is dragged in, of course, as well as Alvin, the boy next door, and the poor postman who is always getting knocked down by the daily Dagwood rush to work. You can't help but forget some of your cares as you find yourself immersed by the continual flow of merriment that Frank R. Strayer, the director, has unrolled on the screen in delightful sequence. Richard Flournoy again wrote the script.
