Feilding Golf Club Senior Championship

ANNEXED BY C, R. THOMAS T. DONALDSON TAKES INTERMEDIATE The senior championship of the Feilding Golf Club was decided yesterday, when C. B. Thomas defeated Y. J. Stichbury in the final by 5 up and 4 to play. The morning play was fairly even, Thomas finishing the round with an 80 and three up, while his opponent, did an 83. Commencing the afternoon round Thomas secured a bogey 5 at tho first to make him 4 up, Stichbury taking 6. Playing the short “windmill" Stichbury secured a nice “birdie" 2, while the hole cost Thomas a 4. At the “totaras" Thomas had no difficulty in halving with bogey while his opponent met trouble and up the hole. The next two were halved in bogey 3 and 4 respectively and at Bunker Hi!!, Thomas secured a win in bogey 5 and again Stichbury met trouble and aban doned the hole. Another win in bogey 4 at “midfield' 3 made the score 6 up. Keen golf was witnessed at the next two holes, both securing “birdies" at Aorangi aDd both halving with bogey at “the bridge." At the turn Thomas was 6 up and went on to halve the 10th with 4’s. The next was halved in like figures and playing the “riverside" Thomas put his drive into the rough on the stop-bank and had to concede the hole. At the crossing Thomas was short with his approach and Stichbury won with a nice 4- Recovering his steady play at the 14th Thomas captured the hole in bogey 5 while his opponent took 6, and won the contest 5 and 4. In the final of the intermediate championship T. Donaldson defeated W. T. Bray after a steadily fought contest over 36 holes. Donaldson finished the morning round 1 up and went on to win by 5 and 4.
