No Woodville Cricket

DIFFICULT CONDITIONS FOR FIELDING A TEAM The annual meeting of the Woodville Cricket Club was held in the R.S.A. clubrooms on Thursday, when in the absence of Mr. W. J. Aliller, Mr. J. Charles presided. The balance-sheet was presented by the secretary, Mr. P. Burlace, and this showed a good profit on the year’s working. The reports were adopted on the motion of Messrs. E. E. Beale and P. Miller. After the prospects of the coming year had been thoroughly discussed it was moved by Mr. R. McGregor that owing to the difficulty in fielding a team that the club go into recess for one year. This was carried, members expressing their regret that for the first time since its inception the club would have to cease to function. It was decided that a donation of 10s be made to the Kindred Sports Fund. The chairman expressed the regret of the club losting the services of Mr. T. S. Bolton, who has been club captain and wished him the best of luck in his new career in the R.A.F. It was decided to place on record the services to the club of Mr. Bolton. Votes of thanks were passed to Mrs. Charles for providing afternoon tea at all games; the auditor, Mi. F. D. Mackie; the Borough Council and staff, for care of the grounds; the umpires and the press. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
