Feilding Fire Board

QUARTERLY MEETING HELD NO FIRE LOSS REPORTED Reporting to yesterday’3 quarterly meeting of the Feilding Fire Board, the superintendent, Mr. O. C. Sporie, stated that although the brigade had received two calls during the peiiod there had been no fire Joss in Feilding for the past six months. Mr. W. E. Carthew (chairman) presided and there were also present Messrs. V. M. Edgar, L. A. Hutton, V. E. Smith, A. C. McCorkindalc and C. H. Tate (secretary).

After hearing the representations of members of the Underwriters’ Association, it was resolved to draw the attention of the Borough Council to section 44 of the Statutes Amendment Act regarding the appointment of an inspector to see that fire-places in new buildings did not contravene the Act. Mr. Edgar stated that investigations in

other centres had revealed circumstances attaching to tho constructions of fire-places which rendered action ueccssary.

It was reported that the final payment of £IOO had been made on the £750 loan raised some years ago. Accounts amounting to £238 5s 4d were approved for payment. In connection with tho Emergency Precautions Regulations Mr. Sporie was authorised to make whatever arrangements were required of him and the lire fighting services.
