Pahiatua Lawn Tennis Club
ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Pahiatua Lawn Tennis Club was held on Tuesday evening. Mr. W. H. Watson presided. Apologies were received from Mr. and Mrs. R. Mills, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Donald, Dr. and Mrs. Watson, Mr. T. G. Harvey and Mr. R. Bridge. A recommendation that the annual tournament be reviewed and perhaps the date changed was referred to the management committee, which is also to decide upon which three courts aro to be closed this season, as mentioned in the secretary’s report. The hope was expressed thut interclub games with neighbouring country clubs might be encouraged. Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr. P. R. Boagcy; president, Mr. W. Hall Watson; vice-presidents, Miss D. Junker, Mrs. W. H. Watson, Messrs. R. J. Carruthers, 8. K. Siddclls, L. J. Heayns and J. G. Swainson; secretary, Mr. J. D. Thomson; club captain, Mr. R. Bridge; treasurer, Mr. F. V. Johansen; auditor, Mr. S. Hogg; management committee, president, secretary, treasurer, captain and Messrs. R. J. Carruthers, R. Mills, H. A. Gardner, Miss G. Bisset, Mrs. A. D. Donald; grounds committee, Messrs. J. D. Thomson, H. A. Gardner, J. G- Swainson, F. Johansen, R. Matthews, E. Pike; social committee, Mesdames Watson, Gardner and R. Mills; Misses de Beer, Junker, J. Bisset and B. Boyd. The appointment of a delegate to the Manawatu Association was left to the committee. The resignations of Mrs. A. M. Maidens and Mr. P. J. Wycherley were accepted with regret. 1 Mr. F. V. Johansen said he knew of 10 possible new members.
