A number of resignations were received and accepted, these including several membeers who had joined up with the military forces, while a number of new membors were elected. In proposing the re-clection of Mr. W. H. Rutherford as patron, the president paid a tribute to his untiring work and enthusiasm for the club’s welfare. The motion was carried with acclamation. Other officers elected were: President, Mr. 8. A. Gover, vice-president, Mr. V. Lawrence, hon. secretary, Mr. G, Durragh; hon. treasurer, Mr. P. C. Miles; hon. auditor, Mr. R. Discussing the prospects for the coming season and tho probable curtailment of representative matcUes owing to the war and petrol restrictions, Mr. Walter Cooke said that the circumstances called for patriotism on the part of older tenuis players to come lorward and keep the club going against the time when those who had gone away to serve their country returned homo again. He said that there were many residents of the town and district who might assist in this direction and he hoped that they would come forward and help the club’s activities. Mr. Tate supported theso remarks and the meeting carried a vote of appreciation and accorded musical honours to those members who had joined up with, the forces. It was agreed to recommend to the committee to consider the question of installing a telephone at the clubhouse.
