LLOYD GEORGE’S FAITH IN VICTORY (British Official Wireless) Received Thursday, 9.20 p.m. RUGBY, Aug. 7. Mr. Lloyd George, iu a broadcast message to the Welsh people, said: The storm clouds which have been gathering over our country and her -empire are npw assuming a darker and more threatening purple not only over our own land but in many quarters of the globe where the interests of Britain are concerned There xs every sign in the ifrmament that such a tempest as Britain has never before encountered is about to break upon her and all she stands for. ‘ ‘ lf her are worthy of their forefathers Britain will pass through this hurricane fearless and erect, and will emerge from its rage mightier, more honoured and more powerful than ever for the good of mankind. ‘ * This ia the day of the agony of the little nations. On the* C/ontinent of Europe their national liberties and their hopes are being crushed under the terrible iron chains of the 1 Nazi legions. “But the three smaller nations of the British Isles have been taught by their own history that although the national spirit of a people may ba bruised and even temporarily broken it never dies, for it lives on in the memories, traditions and songs of their native land.”
