JULY 30, 1940 Tho Associated Auctioneers report on tho Pahiatua weekly sale held at tho saleyards as follows. A fair yarding of sheep and dairy cattle were offered to tho public and was disposed of at auction at prices satisfactory to vendors. All classes of sheep sold freely at late rates, while dairy cows of quality close to profit were keenly sought after. Quotations. —Sheep, 2-th wethers, 23s Gd; ewe hoggets (small), 20s 3d; w. hoggets, 20s 9d, 30s 3d, 20s; shorn w. hoggets, 17s 7d; cull ewes, 14s Id; dairy cows, close to profit (good gtd. sound), £ls 15s, £l4, £l3 10s to £lO 10s; later culvers, £9 10s to £9.
