Pretty June Bride In Magnolia Satin

WILLIAMS—JARVIS In the brilliant sunshine of a perfect June afternoon the wedding was celebrated yesterday of Joan Catnerme Haines, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ii. Jarvis, of Jtiimatangi, and Cecil f'rederick, third son oi Mrs. D. Williams and the late Mr. Williams, oi Foxton. Many friends had assembled at All Saints' church to witness the ceremony, which was performed oy Canon G. Y. Woodward, Mr. J. Holmes Runnicies paying the wedding music. Escorted by her father, Miss jarvis was a winsome bride in her graceful gown of magnolia satin cut on classic lines. The nigh-necked bodice . had square-shouldered effect with long sleeves slightly leg o’ mutton and pointed over the nanus, the only ornamentation being a spray of opal-tinted Deads which was repeated on the long train. The corsiette oelt was slightly rucheu at the pointed front and tiny self-uuL-tons limshed the back to the waist. Her veil of embroidered tulle was held in piace with a top-knot of gardenias anu a sneai of lilies completed a cnarming toilette. in attenuance were three ’maids, Miss Lorna Davis (chief), cousin of the bride, Miss D. Hopping, of Te Awarnutu, anotner cousin, ana Miss G. Sexton, of Himatangi. Their picture frocks were tasnioned m similar style of Drocaded taffeta, the chief Dridesmaid wearing parma velvet and the otner two maids eau de nil. The bodices had heart-snaped necklines and were rucued in front and pointed on to the fully flared skirts, oeing finished with tiny buttons from neck to the long waisted backs. The sleeves were snort and puffed. They wore short veils of tulle matching their frocks with contrasting flowers and carried tulle horseshoes ornamented with the same flowers and ribbon streamers. Also in attendance was Peggy Guamman as flower girl in a sweet frock of white organdie lace with a wreath of flowers in her hair and she carried a basket of flowers in a lioral horseshoe, and Peter .Sears, nephew of the bride, the page boy, wearing satin trousers and velvet coat. Mr. W. Jarvis, brother of the bride, was the best man and the groomsmen were Messrs D. Williams, brother of the bridegroom, and D. Sargisson. The reception following was held at the Jade tea-rooms where the lioral decorations were carried out in shades narmonising with the frocks of the ’maids, with anemones and maiden hair fern.

The guests were received by Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis, the latter wearing a rust corded silk frock and swagger coat to

match with brown hat and accessories. {She carried a bouquet of orchids and o.butilons in autumn tints. Mrs. Williams, mother of the bridegroom, assisted, wearing a navy ensemble with accessories to match, also a shoulder spray of pink carnations and she carried a posy of berries and autumn flowers. The usual toasts were honoured, Mr. L Marsden, of Himatangi, carrying out the duties of toastmaster. Mr. Stratford (Oroua Downs) proposed the toast to the happy couple.

The handsome three-tiered cake which had been made by Mrs. Davis, of Rongotea (aunt of the bride), w r as iced in shades in keeping with the frocks of the bridesmaids. Mrs. Davis also made the bouquets.

The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a gold wristlet watch, to the chief bridesmaid he presented crystal necklet and ear-rings and to the other two attendants, signet rings.

Mr. and Mrs. Williams left later by car, tho bride travelling in an air force blue sports costume with London tan accessories, also a fur stole. They will make their new home in Himatangi.
