Temperatures Cool to Cold Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 22. Although the original centre of the recent depression has moved eastward toward Chatham Island, a new centre has developed during the day over the North Island. An anti-cyclone remains stationary over Australia. Winds: Variable at first, but directions between south and west gradually becoming general. Force continuing strong in the far north and later freshening in most other districts. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough about the Auckland Peninsula; elsewhere slight or moderate, but rising somewhat. Eastern Tasinan Sea: Strong southwest to south winds and rough seas. Weather: Unsettled from about Cook Strait northwards, with intermittent rain, but conditions improving some- ! what to-morrow. Fair at first over most of the South Island, but showers later ( developing there also. Cool to cold j temperatures with some hard frosts in the southern half of the South Island.
