AUTHORISATION BILL INTRODUCED WASHINGTON, May 21. Senator Walsh and Mr. Vincent, chairmen respectively of the Senate and House Naval Affairs Committees, introduced a Bill authorising Mr. Roosevelt to purchase at least 1000 naval warplanes and establish new air bases, at a maximum cost of 124,000,000 dollars. The measure also carries authorisation for the training of 16,000 naval pilots. The House Military Committee has removed the limitation on the number of planes allowed the army for the year beginning July 3.

Allied Forces in Norway

NEW COMMANDER APPOINTED STOCKHOLM, May 22. The radio announces that General Ruge has been appointed chief of defence in command of the Allied forces in Norway.
