To give a professional gloss to an ironed tablecloth proceed as follows: Mix 2oz. of powdered gum-arabic in a pint and a-half of boiling water and let it stand overnight. Strain into a bottle and you have a supply to draw on. Use a tablespoonful of the mixture to a pint of starch.
