Attractive Feilding Wedding

FAINTER—THURSTON St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Feilding, was the scene of a charming wedding recently when Jean Jamieson, twin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Thurston, Makino, Feilding, was married to Clifton, third son of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Painter, Whangarei. Rev. A. L. Dixon was the officiating minister, Mr. A. E. Matheson presiding at the organ.

The-bride who was given away by her father, made an unusually striking picture as she walked up tho aisle gowned in a distinctive gown of ivory slipper satin, embossed in lilies-of-tho-valley and roses. The bodieo was fash ioned with a heart-shaped neckline and tho long, tightfitting sleeves tapered to a point Over the wrists. The slimfitting skirt flowed into a long, oval train, this being outlined with circles of shirred satin. A coronet of orange blossoms and pearls held in place tho beautiful embroidered veil (which had been kindly lent by the bride’s cousin), end was worn over the face on entering the church. A beautiful shower bouquet of exquisite white roses, nerines, chrysanthemums, maiden hair and asparagus fern, was carried by tho ' bride, this completing a most becoming I toilette.

There were two ’maids in attendance, Miss Ethel Ritchie (chief), and Miss Leila Gavigan, both schoolgirl friends of the bride. They were similarly attired in pretty frocks of blush pink triple chiffon featuring shirred bodices, heart-shaped necklines outlined with loops, and adorning the back from the neckline to the waist, were miniature self-covered buttons. Their full puff sleeves were also shirred, and relieved with a row of loops, while their skirts featured the new circular style. Heartshaped belts finished with tiny gold bows and buttoning at tho back were worn. Gold sequin halos were worn on their heads, while gold ribbons with 1 small clusters of flowers circled their throats. Beautiful bouquets of pink chrysanthemums and autumn tinted leaves were carried. The bridegroom’s gift to the bridesmaids were gold armlets.

On leaving the church the bride wa< presented with a horseshoe by her smalt, nephew, Graeme Lamberton. Mr. Arch Cantwell supported the bridegroom as best man, and Mr. Bert Thurston as groomsman. Messrs. Desmond Thurston and Jack Lamberton were the capable ushers. During the signing of the register, Mrs. A. L. Dixon beautifully rendered n solo.

Later over a hundred guests were entertained at the Parish Hall by M.r. and Mrs. H. E. Thurston, the latter being attired in a saxo blue Harris tweed suit, relieved with black, and she wore matching black accessories. She carried a bouquet of bronze chrysanthemums, autumn tinted leaves.

The usual toasts were honoured and felicitations offered. Rev. A. L. Dixon was a capable toastmaster. The beautiful three-tiered wedding cake which held pride of place of tho bride’s table, was made by Mrs. J. W. Thurston, of Colyton.

xlftcr tho reception the guests repaired to the bride’s homo to view the many beautiful presents bestowed on the young couple, among which were a pyrex dish in a silver stand, from tho Manawatu-Oroua Power Board, and a beautiful chiming clock, picture and a cheque from the Feilding Bacon Co., Ltd.

When Mr. arid Mrs. Painter left on their honeymoon tour, Mrs. Painter appeared for travelling in a brown frock relieved with gold chain ornament trimmings, rust hat and coat and matching handbag and gloves, the latter two being the gift of the bridegroom. Later in the evening Mr. and Mrs. Thurston entertained the guests at a jolly dance in the Parish Hall, Air. Lester Thurston making a capable AI.C. A spot waltz was won by Mr. and Airs. E. Jefferies and a statue schottische was won by Miss Joyce Tuuncll and Air. L. Hayden. Air. Arch Cantwell and Mrs. Jenkins were the lucky winners of the Gay Gordons. Dancing continued until midnight and a jolly evening was brought, to a close with the traditional song of “Auld Lang Syne.”
