Pahiatua Festive Lighting

LONGER PERIOD THIS YEAR This year tho Christmas lighting in tho main street of Pahiatua will remain for a period of 28 days. This was the result of the Progressive Association's negotiations with the Tararua Electric Power Board. The cost will be £lB 10s, and of this sum the business people of the town have contributed £l3 10s, the remainder being the grant of £5 from the Borough Council. “Tho response of the business people was excellent," stated the president of the Progressive Association, Mr. W. T. Brown. “Much of tho credit for the success of the appeal goes to Mr. G. H. Hodd, who worked hard canvassing," Mr. Brown added. Canvassing will not be necessary in future, as the charge has been made an annual one, to operate automatically unless countermanded in writing.
