A short-sighted man lost his hat in a strong wind. He gave chase, but every time ho thought he was catching up with it, it was whisked away from under his hand. A farmer’s wife who had been watching him for some time rushed down to the yard gate. ‘What are you doing there?” she screamed. “I’m trying to retrieve my hat, madam,” he answered politely. ‘‘Your hat,” she exclaimed. “Why there it is over that wall. That’s one of jny black hens you’ye been chasingl”
