Centennial Pageantries To go on
RE-ENACTMENT OF TREATY OF WAITANGI Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 23. With the exception of tho pageantry , planned for Auckland, the national Centennial celebrations scheduled for the Bay of Islands on February 0, Wellington on January 22, Gisborne on October 9 and Akaroa probably on April 3, will be curried out. It was announced to-day by Hon. W. E. l’arry, Minister of Internal Affairs, and Hon. I’. Langstone, Acting-Minis-ter of Native Affairs, who are directly concerned with the organisation of tho Waitangi celebration—the most important one—that the prospect was bright for a successful reenactment of the affixing of the signature to the Treaty of Waitangi and for the official opening of the new r Maori meeting-house which be a national Maori Centennial memorial.
A special camp will bo made to accommodate the Maoris. The Ngapuhi Tribe will act as hosts and representatives of other North Island tribes will be invited. There is every reason to believe that with the wholehearted cooperation of the Ngapuhi Tribe the
celebration will be one of memorable historical importance and with its colourful pageantry would appeal to both Maori and imkcho.
