Blockade Will Continue
Until Britain Carries Out Agreement THREAT TO CANTON RIVER Received Wednesday, 1 a.m. TOKIO, July 25. The Japanese Army spokesman at Tientsin declared the blockade of Tientsin would continue until the British gave concrete evidence of their intention of carrying out the Tokio agreement. The Anglo-Japanese Conference Committee discussed the peace and order and policing of Tienstin. The Domei News Agency understands that the proceedings were in accordance with the agreement.
A Shanghai message says the British Consul protested against the detention of Mr. H. Rose, head of the municipality’s Health Department, who was arrested with the Chinese employees on Saturday. A Peiping message says the Japanese-controlled political party has instructed the Shansi, Shantung, Hopeh and Honan branches to tighten up the British boycott and increase the demonstrations. A Hongkong message says it is reliably stated that the Japanese Navy will blockade the Canton River and the British and Trench Concessions around there on Thursday. Sentries will guard both bridge entrances to Shameen Island and patrol the coastal waters.
