Better Street Lighting
SODIUM VAPOUR LAMPS TO BE EXTENDED The sodium vapour electric lights which have proved so successful in giving better lighting along Fitzherbert Avenue, Palmerston North, are to be used by the City Council for a similar purpose in Broadway and Rangitikei Street at an estimated cost of £l7l 10s and £442 respectively. In response to the request from Air. D. A. Christiansen, it was decided that three additional street lamps be installed in also Boundary Road between Roy and Ruahine Streets, estimated total cost £37 30s and two additional lamps in Ruahine Street between the entrance to the hospital and Boundary Road, and ono extra lamp in Heretaunga Street between Rongopai Street and Boundary Road, estimated cost £4 10s per lamp. Residents of Napier Road requested an improvement in the lighting between Brightwater Terrace and the city boundary, and it was decided that three additional street lights be installed at an estimated total cost of £3S 10s.
