Gold Leaves on Velvet for Wellington Bride’s Gown

FUR MUFFS AND CORONETS Miss Betty Blamires, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. E. 0. Blamires, was married to Mr. Donald Younger, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Younger, Cinder Hill, Feiiding, at Wesley Church, Taranaki Street, Wellington, on Saturday evening. Rev. H. L. Blamires and Rev. Percy Paris were the officiating ministers. There were four bridesmaids, the Misses Vivienne and Pat Blamires, sisters of tho bride) and Miss Ida Lawson (Dunedin) and Miss June Smith (Hamilton). Mr. H. A. Stewart was best man and Mr. G. Coggin was groomsman, and during tho service Mr. Roy Hill sang. A very unusual and lovely gown was worn by the bride. It was of cream embossed velvet made over a foundation of magnolia satin, and tho neckline and train were outlined with New Zealand birch leaves paintod gold. A headdress of gold leaves also held in place her billowy tulle veil, which was edged with lace and gold, and instead of a bouquet she carried a Testament bound with white velvet which had been presented at her christening in Wellington by the late Rev. F. W. Isitt. Red velvet frocks trimmed with white fur were worn by the bridesmaids. On their heads they wore white far coronets iu which nestled clusters of red berries, tho colour of the frocks, and they carried white fur muffs trimmed with berries to match. The reception was held at the home of Mrs. A. Longmore, 15 Brougham Street, where bowls of fragrant daphne and stately arum lilies were arranged in the reception rooms. A design of lilies decorated tho wedding cake. There were about 100 guests and they were received by Mrs. Blamires and Mrs. Younger, senr. The bride’s mother was wearing a black velvet frock with a high collar of white fur, and Mrs. Younger was also wearing black velvet and a spray of red roses. A black lacc gown, on which she pinned a spray of red flowers, was worn by Mrs. Longmore. Among tho bouquets presented to the bride was one from the Chilton St. James School, where the brido taught music for a time. For travelling, the bride wore an amethyst angora ensemble with a hat, cape, and muff of musquasn fur.
