MEETING OF COUNCIL The comittee of the Feilding A. and P. Asosciation met on Friday evening, Mr. W. G. Booth (president) presiding. There were also present Messrs. W. Borrie, B. McLeod, H. B. Johnston, N. J. Short, R. H. Buchanan, A. H. Stewart, G. M. Moffitt., M. Henson, A. Hearn, F. W. Gorton, D. W. Reid, L. J. Wild, G. J. Fitzpatrick, R. Linklater, K. Whisker and H. D. Brewster. Messrs. J. E. Hewitt, Maugamaire, aud G. E. Allen, Masterton, wrote accepting membership of the committee. Mr. R. J. Croudis, stationmaster, Feilding, wrote thanking the associa-; tion for its letter of appreciation in connection with services rendered. The Manawatu and West Coast Stud Sheep Sale Committee wrote thanking the association for the help and facilities placed at its disposal in connection with the holding of the committee's annual sale. It was agreed to make the usual donation of £6 6s to the Manawatu-Oroua Division of the Boys and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs. The Southdown Sheep Breed Society donated a medal for the best two-tooth ram in natural condition and also one for the open section. The donations were acknowledged with thanks. A donation of £1 towards a special prize was received from Mr. E. A. Twigg. It was agreed to invite representation on the committee of delegates from the Young Farmers’ Clubs aud Mr. W. E. Barnett is to be asked to arrange for the representation. On the motion of Mr. Wild it was agreed to congratulate Mr. Barnett on his election as president of the Dominion Federation of Young Fanners’ Clubs. Sideshowmen The licensing of sideshowmen was briefly touched on by Mr. Wild, who said that certain key associations had agreed to adopt the by-laws and this would now T clear the way for the introduction of the procedure which the Feilding association had sponsored some four years ago. Mr. *Stewart referred to the two factions of sideshowmen and asked whether the Royal Society had decided which faction it would deal with. In reply, Mr. Wild recalled the “strike” among sideshowmen and the ultimate creation of two factions. The bigger sideshowmen had formed a guild and the smaller interests had formed an association and this latter body, numerically, was the stronger. Mr. Wild went on to deal with the negotiations with the showmen and the trouble appeared to be due to the provision iu the license prohibiting money jirizes for games. The Commissioner of Police had been consulted and had expressed himself as being against the lifting of this prohibition for the reason that most of the trouble with sideshowmen was traceable to games in W'hich cash prizes were offered. No one association appeared to be prepared to move for the deletion of this prohibition and therefore it was illogical under the license for sideshowmen to conduct games for money prizes. Auckland interests had favoured dealing only with members of the guild and there the matter stood.
