Marlon Bride Comes to Woodville

WORBOYS—POPPE The wedding took place at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Alarton, on the afternoon of June 24, of Nellie Catherine Jane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Poppe, to Sidney James, son of Air. and Airs. 8. E. Worboys, Woodville. The church decorations were in green and gold trimmings arranged by friends of the bride. Rev. T. H. Burton performed the ceremony, and Airs. R. G Ball was at the organ.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, was gowned in a model frock of uncrushabie silk velvet. The bodice was ruched with a soft V neckline and a rounded corded yoke, buttoned at the neckline to a point at the back. The skirt was cleverly cut to form a beautiful train. Her veil, which was of tulle, had true-lovers , knots in each corner and a topnot of velvet flowers in the shape of a rose. She carried a sheaf of lilies.

The bridesmaids, Miss Mollie Morgan. Woodville, Miss Merva Signal, Palmerston North, and Miss Shirley Poppe, Fern Flats, wore frocks of green velvet cut on similar lines to that of the bride's, and wore halos to tone with their bouquets of golden jonquils.

Air. W. Bly, Woodville, was best man, and the ushers Alessrs L. Cotter, Woodville, and J. Taylor, Alarton. While the register was being signed Aliss Alerlo Hunter sang “My Prayer."

A reception was afterwards held, when 100 guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore a frock of green sheer and hat to tone, and a fox fur. She carried a gold posy. Assisting her was Mrs. F. T. Renal], Masterton, sister of the bridegroom, wearing a frock of fuchsia marocain with hat and accessories of burgundy and fuchsia posy. Later the bridal couple left by

car for a tour of the North Island. The bride wore a very smart prunella suit and hat and fur stole. Air. and Mrs. Worboys resido at Woodlands Road, Woodville.
