Nervizes made the early running from Ringford, Bobken and Green Cape. The last-named came up in the final round and moved into second place, then came .Pooley Bridge and Restford. With half a mile to go, Green Capo took charge from Cape Race and Restford and Green Cape led into the straight from Restford and easily beat that rival by three and a-half lengths. H.B. HUNT CLUB RACES NOMINATIONS DUE TO-NIGHT Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for all events at the Hawke’s Bay Hunt Club’s annual race meeting, to be held at Hastings on Saturday week, close with the secretary (Mr. A. E. Wishart), Queen Street, Hastings, this (Monday) evening at 8 o’clock. RANGITIKEI HUNT COMING EVENTS The Rangitikei Hunt Club’s carnival season opens on Tuesday, July 18, when tho annual ball will be held in the Civic Theatre, Marton. Tom Udy’s dance band, from Featherston, will supply the music. The steeplechase race meeting will be held on the Marton racecourse on Saturday, July 22. The programme includes the Hunt Cup Steeplechase and Ladies’ Bracelet (flat race) for qualified hunters, Riddiford Handicap (open) of seven furlongs, threo hack races and hack hurdles. The stakes amount to over £9OO for the seven events. Nominations close on Tuesday, June 11, at 9 p.m., with the secretary, at Marton. The x>omt-to-point steeplechase meeting will be held on Mr. L. H. S. Marshall’s property, Fern Flats, two miles from Marton, via the Tutaenui Road, on Wednesday, July 26, and on the most suitable course—in fact, the best that tho hunt has ever secured.

The programme consists of a Maiden Steeplechase, men’s novelty event, ladies’ hunter event, Handicap Point-to-point Steeplechase, and a Hunters’ Trial. Entries close on Thursday, July 20, at 9 p.m.

Borham’s loud-speaker will be installed for broadcasting the events. Trophies have been donated by Mr. A. McPherson, Dr. W. S. R. Dick and Miss N. Lampp and several more have been promised.

The following officials were elected for the point-to-point steeplechase meeting: Honorary judge of jumping competitions, Mr. W. H. Gaisford (Dannevirke); honorary judges of steeplechases, Messrs. A. McPherson and G. Lampp; honorary starter, Mr. A. T. Gatwell; honorary handicappers, Messrs. H. J. Cameron and J. Brice; honorary clerk of scales, Mr. J. H. C. Broad; honorary clerk of course, Mr. A.
