Spain Will Not Support Axis

The Pans correspondent of the Times says the Spanish Ambassador (Senor le Querica) gave M. Bonnet an assurance that the recent statement by General Klndelan, Chief of the Spanish Air Force, that if Italy were involved in war * ‘ none of the Spanish services, least of all the Air Force, will be able to remain impassive," did not represent the views of the Franco Government. Senor le Querica emphasised that Spain was in no way committed to the Axis in a military sense. The Paris correspondent of the Exchange Telegraph Company, says Spain has officially informed France that in the event of a European war Spain proposes to remain neutral. It is understood Spain recently rejected an invitation from Italy to Join the military alliance between Italy and Germany.
