German Troop Movements on Both Frontiers
Expectation of Early Climax to Polish Dispute Hitler Wooing Arabia and Russia United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 10.5 p.m. BERLIN, June 21. In expectation of an early climax of the Nazi-Polish dispute, German defence preparations arc reported from both the western and eastern frontiers. Already the first-line defences on the French frontier have been manned and General Staff officers are now sending troops to the Siegfried Line. From many points near the frontier reports have been received of motorised troops and artillery movements. A thousand men have been set to work on the common frontiers between Poland and Germany. Anti-Polish propaganda has increased from the Official German News Agency, which is again denying troop movements in Slovakia, Bohemia and Moravia. The “Diplomatic Correspondence” says Herr Hitler will give Ibn Saud of Arabia assistance which will bo most useful. The Reich always welcomes Arab efforts at independence and shows its open sympathy for such aims. German interest in Arabia’s fate grows with the Reich’s own fate. A German trade and finance delegation is expected to leave Berlin next week to re-open economic discussions with the Soviet. It is understood the Nazis are anxious to establish good relations with the Soviet as quickly as possible. Moscow, however, is silent in regard to the delegation. A Paris message states that diplomatic quarters are now more optimistic regarding the speedy conclusion of a pact with the Soviet.
