Manawatu Licensing Committee

MEETING AT FEILDING The annual meeting of the Manawatu Licensing Committee took place at the Feilding Courthouse yesterday. This committee replaces the old Oroua Electorate Licensing Committee which disappeared in consequence of the alteration of boundaries and the elimination of the Oroua electorate. Mr. R. M. Watson, S.M. (chairman), presided and there were also present Messrs W. G. Booth, G. Bartholomew, E. G. Goodbehere, Thomas Watson and P. G. Guy. The transfer of the license of the Commercial Hotel, Ashhurst, from Mrs. E. McCarthy to George P. Bridge was approved. Renewals of licenses were granted in the following cases:—Henry Dooly, Denbigh Hotel, Feilding; Richard Be van, Empire Hotel, Feilding; A. A. McGregor, Feilding Hotel, Feilding; N. T. K. Cruden, Junction Hotel, Longburn; C. J. O’Connell, Junction Hotel, Sanson; Mrs. E. M. Mcßrearty, Awahuri Hotel, Awahuri; G. Grove, Masonic Hotel, Ashhurst; J. W. Young, Halcombe Hotel, Halcombe; Mrs. D. Swift, Apiti Hotel, Apiti. The committee approved of the issue of a license to A. J. Galpin in respect of the Royal Hotel, Bunnythorpe. The application for the renewal of the license in respect to the Manchester Hotel, Feilding, was adjourned until September to enable certain essential repairs to be carried out by the landlord. Tho police reported that it was desirable that the application be adjourned and the chairman concurred, remarking that the landlord should be advised of the position.

In connection with the renewal of the license for the Feilding Hotel, the police reported that- steps were being taken to paint the premises tills year. Approval was given the application for the transfer of the license of the Awahuri Hotel from Mrs. Mcßrearty to lan A. Mclntyre.

The renewal of a wholesale license in favour of Messrs Barraud and Abraham, Ltd., of Feilding, was approved.
