Two Games Drawn In Senior Grade RESULTS AT A GLANCE Marima 16, Konini 16. Hukanui 0, Mangatainoka 0. Hamua 17, Eketahuna 0. Nireaha 11, Pahiatua 0. Third Grade Eketahuna 8, Hukanui 5. MARIMA AND KONINI DRAW Rugby Park, Pahiatua, was the scene of an exciting game on Saturday afternoon when Marima met Konini, the final result being 16 all. Conditions were ideal. There was, however, a poor attendance of spectators, but the enthusiasts who witnessed the game thoroughly enjoyed it. A. Matson, who kicked the goals for Marima, was the star man of his team, while Eddie was right in form, and it was unfortunate for his side that he had to retire from the field through an injury he received in the second half. The following were the teams:— Konini (blue and red): G. Smith, A. Mahoney, E. Hirst, L. Barraclough, M. Harris, D. Keene, A. Lyall, C. Brown, E. Brown, T. Verry (captain), F. Jen* sen, S. Watt, M. Connell, B. Smith, H. George. Marima (blue): Biddies, E. Matson, A. Matson, R. Matthews, J. Treader, D. Cox, Womell, P. Kendall, Ross, J. Hercock, C. Eddie, P. Fouhy, K. Elliott (captain), C. Dinnia, J. Mahoney. Mr. W. Ryan refereed. Marima kicked off and a scrum was ordered ten yards in Konini’s territory. The ball came out to Marima, who went, right across field into Konini’s twentyfive. Eddie picked up and Mahoney gathered in the pas sto score 15 yards from the poßts. A. Matson took the kick and added tho necessary points.— Marima 5, Konini 0. Marima were handling the ball much better than Konini, whose backs were dropping the ball on numerous occasions. A free kick was given Marima ten yards from the twenty-five mark. A. Matson took the kick successfully.— Marima 8, Konini 0. Konini brightened up and play was taken well up field. George secured the ball and with a good run got within ten yards of Marima’s goal line before he was grounded. Off-side play near the twenty-five yard line gave Konini a free kick. GeOrge took a shot at goal, but the ball went wide. Marima took play down to the Konini twenty-five, where & free kick was given Marima. Matson failed with the kick at goal. Konini passed well and play was taken into Marima’s territory. Mahoney, the ex-All Black, broke away, his weight taking a lot of stopping, but he was grounded 15 yards from the goal. Konini were well on the ball and for a minute or two it looked as if they would go over. A scrum was ordered five yards from the line, but Marima secured and the ball was sent downfield. Half-time was sounded soon afterwards.

Konini were right on the ball after the spell and from the kick-off carried the play well into Marima’s territory, but Marima handled well and the leather was taken up to half-way. Eddie picked up and after clearing four men put on speed and scored right behind the posts. A. Matson took the kick and the ball went over the posts to bring Marima’s score to 13—0. Konini from the kick-off made the pace, and after a series of passes Mahoney scored ten yards on the lefthand side of the goal posts. H. George took the kick but failed to convert.— Marima 13, Konini 3.

Marima were handling the ball well and play was being brought from near their goal line when the game was held up through Eddie receiving an injury to his right leg. He had to leave the field and was replaced by Hinds. It was not long before the ball was taken deej) into Marima’s territory and Keene secured and went across. Goorge converted, making the score Marima 13. Konini 8. Three minutes before time Konini made a desperate attack and it was not long before a scramble took place near Marima's goal posts. Mahoney secured and fell over the line with three or four men on top of him. George converted, bringing tho score to 13 all. The crowd -were on their toes and from the Marima twenty-five mark Connell picked up and with a good run found the goal line. George failed to convert.—Konini 36, Marima 13. From the kick-off Marima were determind to bring up their score and with a series of passes managed to get up into Konini’s twenty-five territory. A free kick was given Marima and Matson, with a strong, straight kick, put tho leather right over the bar to close the game.—Marima 16, Konini 16.
